Circa 1850's, this nicely sized oval picture locket with it's original glassed compartment to home a meaningful memento. The 9ct gold panel on the reverse features a tiny shield at the centre of a buckle which has the secret meaning of binding loyalty and this surrounded by the Rococo flourishes of the moulded Acanthus leaf frame holds a powerful symbolism. 

The locket measures 3cm. The surround and bale is 9ct gold cased.
