Product Details

A magnificent antique Victorian locket modelled in sterling silver and hallmarked Birmingham, 1881. It’s accompanied by a solid silver albert chain which consists of chunky curb links that graduate in size from the clasp and are each stamped with a sterling lion mark.

The locket displays ornate, high relief workmanship embossed on the front with a floral centrepiece featuring leaves, forget me nots and a rose which have been highlighted in rose and green gold and together symbolise everlasting love and remembrance.

Ivy can also be seen growing up both sides and was another popular motif on lockets as it represented an unbreakable bond, as in the Victorian rhyme “Close clings the ivy to the tree, so in my heart I cling to thee”.

It’s a wonderful antique treasure, in excellent condition and complete with rims and windows within the locket to store two beloved photographs of the ones you love most.
